The Acorn Foundation was established in 2003, to encourage people to consider leaving a gift in their will to benefit the local community forever.  People can make donations during their lifetime to build up their fund (and maximise the tax rebates) or simply gift the money once they have died.

The Acorn Foundation is based on a model established in New York about 80 years ago.  The Foundation manages funds on behalf of its donors with some of the investment income being distributed to charities annually.
